TDR WEEK OF PROTESTANTISM / EDITION 2020
THEME: « Together, let us walk and remain under the benevolent gaze of our God »
(Psalms 133)
I. BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE
Protestants around the world celebrate the Reformation Day every last Sunday of October, which is an opportunity to commemorate the historic action of the fathers of the Protestant Reformation. In Cameroon, the Protestant Churches, for their part, celebrate a whole week called « Protestantism », the culmination of which is the Sunday of the Reformation. Protestantism week for this year 2020 has reached its 24th edition. This week has always been an opportunity for our Churches to reflect and pray together in relation to the challenges imposed on us by socio-political, economic, spiritual realities, etc.
This year, the 24th wants to promote and strengthen living and staying together in the sense of social cohesion for lasting peace, hence the theme:
« TOGETHER, WALKS AND LET US REMAIN UNDER THE BENEFICIAL LOOK OF OUR GOD » theme taken from Psalms 133.
This theme fits in with the context in which we live today, namely that our society is in the grip of the forces of evil and social disintegration.
Indeed, everyone is aware of the difficulties that our nation has been going through for some time, namely the socio-political, health and religious terrorism crises that destabilize our families and therefore our communities. We cannot ignore the quarrels within our respective denominations. Faced with this sad reality, we must mobilize more than ever so as not to mortgage the future, and contribute to the real advent of the reign of peace in our country, Cameroon.

II. GOALS

Overall objective
As part of a historical tradition, the celebration of the Reformation aims to strengthen the unity of Protestants.
Specific objectives
Specifically speaking the 24th edition, Protestantism Week will aim to:
❖ To sensitize Protestants on the need to pray continually on behalf of our country for cohesion, love and unity in our dear country which are threatened. This by referring them to the socio-political context of the day.
❖ Encourage our communities to play their prophetic role in society.
❖ To draw the attention of the rulers and the governed of the nation to the importance of mutual understanding for a lasting peace process.
❖ Encourage Protestants to show a spirit of patriotism and hospitality in favor of all Cameroonians in difficulty.
❖ Encourage Protestants to be peace officers by respecting and enforcing the measures to be taken to protect themselves from pandemic diseases of the day, the need for which is no longer to be demonstrated.

III. EXPECTED RESULT

❖ May our country regain its qualities as an asylum of peace in which citizens live in love and unity;
❖ The rulers are sensitive to the concerns of the peoples and fully play their role;
❖ Cameroonians are patriotic and hospitable
❖ That Cameroonians live without being infected despite the presence of the pandemic (COVID-19);
❖ May the Spirit of tolerance and mutual love prevail in our communities;
❖ That the climate of insecurity we live in turns more into a climate of peace;
